I know there are many others out there but I have a little CRX and right now I have the kenwoods in and they hit hard enough but I would like something better and my wife gets a stupid good discount at bestbuy so this stuff is like 5% above cost.


I am open to anything bestbuy carries since it is nearly free after the discount haha

I need an amp and 2x 10" or 12" subs

polk gets lower and has higher sensitivity.

however i trust that kenwoods build quality more than i do that polk subs quality.

however if you're using the 8105d upgrading the subs is a waste of money because that amp is only 500rms@2ohms. you are already underpowering the subs you have by 300rms watts.

and i hope you didn't pay more than $125 on that amp because thats all it cost online.

All the stuff in the car is being returned for full price. I am gonna be shopping around through them to find stuff

I want really low end bass from the subs.
And an amp that will allow a lot of equalize and messing around with settings as well.

amp power wise there isn't going to be much room for you because you have a weak electrical system in a crx. from what i can find its only got a 60 amp alternator which even without lights and engine electrics you couldn't even handle 850rms watts.

500rms watts is about the most you can run without voltage drops and problems like lights going dim.

your subs do have a terrible bottom end right now...the lowest they go is 34hz when you really want to be able to get down to 30hz for a regular setup.

a ported box and better subs will help some...but you will still have to underpower them because of your low output alternator. you'll also need to be careful to keep your amplifier from clipping.

Like I said, I don't need much in the rex.

I really wanted to cut down to 1 sub and 1 amp with a smaller box, so I have room in the back for stuff butyeah

I see now the Hz range and I'm wondering about the single and dual coils
I know its the way the subs move and what not but is there a better one? Assuming the dual?

dual voice coil simply allows better wiring options. for example if you have single 4 ohm sub you can only wire it to 4 ohms. however if you have a 4 ohm dual voice sub you can wire it to 2 ohms.

durability/quality aspects are the same its just the wiring capabilities that brought about dual voice coil subwoofers.

also depending on how much the discount cost of that kicker l7 in the box is you might go with that. its not going to have the sound quality of that alpine but it will be louder.

dual voice subs only end up with 1 set of wires to the amplifier still.

So normal positive to negative, then + to - on the Subs connectors?

I'll look into that. They have a lot of Kicker stuff in store at all times.

well the l7/box combo will have better build quality than that alpine setup. its kind of annoying since i don't know exactly how much it is with a discount so comparing price for price is hard.

rockford fosgate p3 would be fine
kicker l7 would be fine
alpine type r would be fine
pioneer champion pro series would be fine

if the price on the db brand subs is comparable they are also an okay choice. full price on them is terrible bur if you can get a good price($150 or so) on one it would be fine.
