Guy tried pushing the pioner appradio 2 on me, sounded awesome. He wants 750$ for the unit + installation it seemed pretty steep. He gaurenteed it'll work for my phone and what not without extras

Go home and the thing isn't compatible with my galaxy s3 without spending extra cash on things!

This seems a steep price, but then again I don't know...

Should I get a cheaper double din receiver and an ipod?

Bah, I want to just listen to music through my galaxy s3 without so many problems ! :(

Does the galaxy support bluetooth audio out?

if so get a double din with bluetooth, a lot of pioneer decks have it.

no need to spend that much then. any head unit with usb capabilities will work.

do you need it to be double din?

No, but I've decided on the pioneer http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_63979_Pioneer-AVH-X3500BHS.html

I got quoted for all parts & installation of this radio for 625 does this seem fair?

that head unit is fine.

what car is this going in? i'd like to see how much installation hardware cost. before i say if that install is overpriced or not.

generally newer cars require $70-ish wiring harnesses and a few models require elaborate dash kits.

consider this in his price...best buy only charges $120+hardware cost.

dash kit

having problems locating an aftermarking wiring harness so you may just have to do direct wiring on it.

this should have everything you would need to do the wiring. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/es300-and-es330/210521-how-to-install-an-aftermarket-stereo-headunit-in-a-lexus-es300.html

its basically just matching wires up and connecting them...everything labeled so unless you can't read you should be able to do all the wiring stuff in 10 minutes or less.

i would suggest you do this install yourself...not only because its fairly easy and saves you $200...but because it will open your eyes up to just how simple the stuff places like that charge you out the ass for so you won't be scared to install the next things you get.

only thing you can possibly screw up on is shorting out wires...avoid this by unhooking your cars battery until the wiring is all done and you are ready to test the radio.
