I'm trying to find an amplifier for a Rockford Fosgate p2d4-10
~rms 250watts, it's the older version of the punch
i'm going to make a sealed box to the specifications of Rockford Fosgate themselves,
my only problem is find an amplifier to power it, it's currently in a old-school Kenwood basstube, powered by the kenwood amp.

found it on amazon, and definity better then what i was looking at
now i've thought, and heard alot of things as far as RMS, is it better to buy an amplifier that gives more power then the RMS requires so you do have to turn up your radio as high to get it higher
i.e. if something requires 100 watts rms get an amplifier that gives ~125-150 rms

it getting louder faster is more about pre-amp voltage and gain settings than its rms rating.

as for rms wattage it can really go either way. i generally stick with close/same rms ratings for the simple reason of i'd rather it potentially be less loud than potentially blown.

my pre-amp voltage is 4 volts, i don't typically turn my system up to full blast, but at this time i do have to turn it up louder because the speakers aren't amped, and the sub-woofer is underpowered.
and i know i really need to buy a 4-channel amp for my speakers, but my problem is my front rms at ~37.5 and my rear ones rms at 75

whats your current amps gain setting at?

i'm literally giving the subwoofer all the lil amp's got
we've had it for i think five years, been through three car
(purchases the built-in amp kenwood basstube from a garage sale)
hits alot of the notes, but it's no where near what the subwoofer should be sound or quality wise

or if your asking about my spearkers, their powered off the head unit only

gain should be matched to your head units pre-amp voltage.

does your head unit have subwoofer pre-amp or just rear? if it has sub outputs you can change its volume levels on the head unit so it gets louder earlier one in the volume range.

like if its set to 10 it would peak at 20 volume but at 1 it would peak at 40 volume for example.

i've not seen what your talking about.
i can tune each speaker (front/back/subs), i can tell it how far away the speaker/subs are apart, the size of each speaker, and i can add and reduce decibels to the subwoofer.

hmm generally they have dedicated subwoofer controls somewhere but i'm not familiar enough with that unit to say if it has the options im thinking of or not.

anywho probably just grab that amp and stick the gain on 4 volts and see how it sounds.
