I currently drive a 1996 2 door Tahoe 4x4.
Stock alternator. Stock walmart battery.
I have done the big 3 with 1/0 knukonceptz wire.
Also have 1/0 knukonceptz ran from front to my dist block.
My output on my dist blocks are both 4g.
My setup is:
2x AQ HDC3-15
2x AQ1200D Strapped

So i have a total of 2400RMS system.
My bass hits good but when it hits low notes it drops pretty low to about 11v.
I got lights dimming and shit ect.
Turned down my amps ect until i upgrade my electrical so no dim or major drops but its not as loud.

I am looking upgrading my batteries.
Is it okay to mix agm batteries with my stock battery?
Honestly don't have a budget on the battery but i don't wanna spend a fortune on batteries....



So the questions is.
Should i upgrade my starting battery????
Also what battery to buy for my system.

an alternator upgrade is what you need. batteries are secondary power sources.

youll need around a 200-250 amp alternator to keep up with your power draw.

I planned on upgrading to my alternator anyway once i got another battery so it could charge them both.
So your saying i wont need one?

with a proper sized alternator you will still want to get a better battery because your alternator will not be at full power when you are idling. an optima yellow top will be a good battery for this application.

a 200 and a good battery will be enough. you can add a second battery if you want but you will also need to buy isolators.

Iraggi is kaput so do not buy them. My so called lifetime warranty is void due to
A. No one answers the phone there
B. The company is in a lawsuit

getting one cheap. warranty is already out on it.

If you mix you need an isolator and you should probably not do it it can cause the front battery to drain much more dramatically if not done right...
Get two Deka's for cheap somewhere and throw one in the front and one in the back glass matts always the best, deep cycle high outputs with lots of ah and reserve will be your best friend.

alternator is not needed it's only 2400w unless you plan to idle full tilt hours at a time... Just get a good batt int he front, batt in back, Big III with 0/1 and 4 runs of 0gauge to the back for pos/neg.
Also the best ground is running your amplifiers ground to the battery negs I've seen 1v rise from this and lower impedance from the amplifier. So if you do put a batt in the back ground on the neg terminal of the battery.

If your amp doesnt accept 0ga make it...Lost of wire is your best friend you want zero bottlenecks in your current.

FOllow my suggestions and you'll be fine I've ran a 2800w amplifier @ .5 ohms off this type of setup daily.

Also you will not need 200a, a good 150 would more than do the trick... 200a is sufficient for upwards of 3000-3200w setups.
