Need two quality sound 6.5" speakers for my 09 smart, price range 100-120$
don't want a sub, and don't need an amp much ( car is so small, the sound traps in easily )
listen to trance, black metal and alternative. no need for loud annoying rap music type of speakers ;)

that links not working for me

found a forum thread that has a top 10 list, these 3 of which seemed to spark attention:
Alpine Type-S SPS171A
Polk Audio DB6501
JL Audio TR650-CSi

kind of leaning towards Polk Audio DB6501, or possibly the JL Audio TR650-CSi ( i like the look of the polk's, but JL seems like a nice expensive brand )

Alpine speakers dont sound very good. The Polks or JLs are a better bet. Or the Rockfords that the other guy posted.

those are both component sets. you will need to find a place to mount a tweeter separately.

and without amping them its kind of a waste of money. they won't sound very good if you underpower them a lot.

my link works for me. once you quote it the links stop working however.

do component speakers make a difference as far as quality or installation?
i wanna get the polks actually, and i can cut out a hole for the tweeters in the little coverings on the inside next to side mirrors.

i can get an amp in the future, for now i'd wanna get good speakers that'll still sound better then my ugly stock ones
how big of a difference would it be though?

with an amp the difference would be a lot. underpowering them keeps them from working properly.

components allow you to put the tweeter where its most effective and the midrange gets more surface area. components are better overall.
