what's something good to tap into for a amp hooked to a stock headunit? finishing my friends truck today and the cd player he bought doesn't work so hes gotta get another one, but I need to run a remote wire since I never did last week. But when I tap it into the remote wire on the factory HU the truck doesn't start? and there's no power seat or power windows or anything to tap into :/

Use one of the 9-12v fuses under your hood that go to your radio if you must... You could also make a bypass and and use ur ignition wire. Almost anything 9v-12v that only comes on when your car or headunit comes on should suffice. I used to use a fuse and do it from my power wire on the amplifier and it only came on when the car was on.

That's what I did haha. I was like wait a minute, just because it doesn't have power windows doesn't mean that the accessory spot on the fuse box isn't there...

So I hooked it in there and ran it, but also ran another wire to the back of the HU and left it disconnected so when he gets his new HU in I can use that remote instead and take that shit out from under the hood.

Yeah I lack a lot of common sense sometimes when I do installs haha it's just one of those days sometimes. What kind of RCA adapter are you using for your preouts? and how do you have it hooked up? and good idea on running another wire conveniece is always key.

It's not that I had a brain fart, I just never have to use a fuse box to do an accessory wire. And it has a LOC tied to the back two speakers for now, that will be removed when the new headunit finally comes in.

Oh haha was just saying I have them all the time :-p but yeah that's true most people never use them. and yeah I was going to suggest a LOC to the rear speakers good location seems like you have everything covered haha.

Yeah everything has been hooked up for about a week or so, but I didn't have time to finish the instal so I ran just a switch from the remote spot on the amp to the constant on the amp so he could power his amp for now, but it was a bitch turning it off and on so I figured I'd help him out since hes clueless with electrical

Yeah mine in my truck is wired in a switch, that's mounted close to the HU. But this isn't my truck and isn't worth using up all my supplies for something that won't be appreciated lol.
