Easy question, and I know the Civic is very common. The factory radio is not amplified at all, is it?

I just want to replace the rear deck speakers. I know they're 6x9 already, just wondering if I should look for a low or high power set. I'm assuming if unamplified, the stereo will put out maybe 15 watts a channel?

Next question, anyone have any experience swapping these? I fear the tweeter post mount being too tall to have the deck panel go back on.

tl;dr version: what are some nice drop in 6x9's for an '05 Civic EX Coupe?

low power. chances are you'll be lucky to get 10rms watts at them with the stock head unit.

grab whatever you want really because aside from working you aren't going to get any real benefit from higher quality speakers with the stock head unit.

Disagree with this. Adding a powered sub to a factory system will give you the perception of a much better sound system vs. getting a new CD player.

And all I want them to do is work, and maybe hit some 60 hz bass drum freq's.

Perceived sound quality difference. Take a stock car like mine. Add an amp and a sub for a couple hundred dollars. Play it against a system with a new deck and speakers throughout. Guarantee the layman will find that the factory with sub sounds better than the completely upgraded one that you spend a grand on.

i just put together a 7 speaker and new head unit setup for a guy at $575.

you could line up 4 stock systems to go against it and it would decimate them.

point being? its a 2011 article so even if it was right it wouldn't pertain to your 05 civic.
