i have a pioneer head unit in my truck and 2 pinoneer 6 by 9 door speakers then 2 stock dodge speaks in rear and 2 kicker subs
the subs are hooked to 950 pioneer amp

when i turn my radio up the interior speakers shut off the subs still hit and the radio is still on and giving signal to the amp
i have checked all fuses and replaced serveral times
i rewired my radio and swaped to a different radio did not help
for a bit the new radio was able to go louder but now its worse cant
even turn to 20 volume before speakers quit
i have checked all the wires to the door speakers they are secure and not touching and wired up
did not check stock speakers because well there stock and even if they blow they play
i had a great system and then one day this shit just started
was no pop or bang or fire smell lol
would liek to know possiable causes and fixes
iv done all i can think of
also have fucked with radio setting on both radios did not help at all unless i turned every thing to negatives
which is like not having nothing at all playing

when you say the signal is still getting to the amp are you saying your speakers are being powered by an amp? if so:
1. what amp are you using?
2. are you using the proper wiring?
3. have you tried removing the power from your sub, and turn it up and see if the speakers still cut off?
4. is the amp too powerful for the speakers?
5. have you tried messing around with the settings with the amp the speakers

if not:
1. take the power away from you sub (take your fuse out, {if your only powering your sub with your power wire ofc}) and see if it still happens

This happens on my cousins garbage sub because his amp went bad , if that is headunit power then the your front channel HU out is fucked.

if subs don't shut off the problem is in the head unit itself ur rcas have a different signal they get so they will
still beat. if u don't have rear speakers hooked up try changing ur wiring to the back channel off the head unit
(or different than what u have if using rear)

do they turn on with volume under 20?

subs are fine my problem lies within my interior speakers they are pwoerd through the radio not a amp
and i know the radio inst the problem because its sending signal to the subs after it cuts the interior speakers off
so i have all bang and no words

does the radio flicker or anything right before the sound stops?

nope the sound cuts no crackle no pop no flicker just dead stops playing music

I recently bought a new radio for my Probe GT. I also bought the direct wiring harness. The wiring all went together fabulously, I can hear music at a very low level, but the problem is that at any kind of reasonable volume the speakers either cut out or just buzz. I had thought maybe it was the speakers, so i bought normal factory speakers and still the same result. So then i tried to run straight off the battery, red to red and black to a ground. I ran the yellow, or ignition , to the red as well. I think this may be my problem. Should I try to run the ignition wire to just bypass the car's wiring completely? Or do you have any ideas what i can do to use the already installed factory wires? Please help, While listening to the exhaust in my car was fun at first, I kind of get tired of listening to the same song over and over again. I just walk around singing it all day. Jeff, it sounds like you're radio is doing what we call "clipping." This means that the internal amplifier isn't getting enough electrical flow to handle high volumes. You were smart to test it on the battery. To fix it, you should try a couple of things. First, I would check the ground connection in the dash. You can do this by taking a volt meter and running the positive side to the battery (might need some extra wire to make the leap) and the negative side to the ground wire on your radio wiring. If you aren't sure, they are probably labeled on the wiring that came with the new radio. It should read 12 volts. If it doesn't, you have a faulty ground wire. You can install a new ground wire to anything metal that isn't isolated by a washer or other nonconductive material. Basically any easy to access screw. Check it with the volt meter to be sure. i would just attach a new ground wire to the car and then run it to the new radio. If it's not the ground connection, you probably have a weak positive connection. Again, check it with the volt meter. Check the 12V+ constant wire (usually red, but should be labeled 12V+ or something), then check the 12V switched wire with the ignition turned on. This is the wire that makes your radio turn off when you turn the car off. If all else fails, you can run new positive wires, but unless you've done some wiring, you should proceed with caution because a misplaced wire can cause a serious meltdown, or fire. Trust me, I've been there -- 3 amps running off a single positive cable. Hey, I was only 17!

doubt it will help but i found this, but yours speakers just shut off though

found another post, have you tried checking, if you unhook 3/4 if it works, then 2/4, then 1/4


i'm currently just throwing things that other people have tried lol

its funny u posted that cause its 1 am here and iwent out and redid my gorund to a screw in my dash but cant test tonight if all goes well tomorrow ill thank you if not ill run a new postive wire
