do people spent 50~150 on a head unit, ~30 on sets of speakers, and ~125 on the sub/amp together?

I have a q also. Will building a housing for my subs cause distortion due to reduced air flow?

I spent 1,300 on mine.

entry level system - 250 - 500
average system - 500 - 750
above average system - 750 - 1000
excellent system - 1000 - 1500
competition system - 2500 +

no, building a proper box for ur subs will make them perform the way they are intended to. unless they are free air subs, but thats a whole different thing

I spent about a 1000 including my employee discount. I think it would've been around 2k without it. my amps costed
two amps = 900
sub = 350
amp kit = 200
speakers = 300
headunit = 450
dash kit/harness/antenna = 70
I mightve left some smaller stuff out like the bass knob but those weren't too much.

= ~2270 before tax

+ sub box which was like 50


and that's before my employee discount. My employee discount totaled to about 1k with installation and everything included
