im wanting to make my own custom sub box for my ford ranger
its ex cab and has the to fold out seats in the back
Picture ~ http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ0S6xRvBNVc8s4Hg32vqegWvpK2zOy0wxF8hPQhSGh7e-PhlmXAQ

i am wanting to make the boxes fit right where the seat are suppose to fold into (ofc taking seats out)
just a couple question i have

1. does the box need to be a certain size? like speaker/box ratio? or does the speaker just need to be able to fit in the box without touching the back?
2. recommended speakers to fit in such a small area? would 8" fit? or would i want something else?
3. making the box ~ its just the 6 sides right? no inner pieces?
4. tips are appreciated

What kind of space are you working with? Dimensions would be nice. you could probably fit a pair of twelves in there.

There are sealed boxes and ported boxes, Sealed tend to be more accommodating to all genres of music while ported gets much louder.

Ported boxes need to be specially designed and tuned to a frequency based on what kind of music you listen to.

If you do listen to rap id recommend ported.

its going in the little cubby where the seat would fold into btw

dimensions:
5 deep (7 if i do some grinding)
13 wide
16 1/2 tall

mostly just need to know if there needs to be a certain amount of room in the box for the sub to sound right
and whats the minimum depth the box can be for like a 8", 10" 12"?

pretty sure a 12" wont fit
or can it b/c i have 13 wide and 16 tall?
seems to close

And if by deep you mean from the back of the truck to the front seat, you could always have your subs firing upwards and have the 16 1/2 tall so you can use some deeper subs. I have two alpine type r's in a ext cab s10 with fold out seats ( mine fold into the side ) and they are in a normal car box and fit just fine, didn't have to take the jack and tire iron out either.

well like im not wanting to use any of that space in the back right behind the front seats
there is cubbys in the the back where the seats fold into the side of the truck
i want to take the seats out and get a sub in that cubby that will be pretty flush with everything else
so couldn't really put it like that

trying to not just put a huge box in fill up the hole ex cab part
