First serve do flat serves and hit as hard as you can while trying to make it in the box. Second serve do topspin serves. Yes topspin serves take a lot of practice and takes a very long time to master. A lot of tennis players can't even master second serve at all because the muscle memory is very difficult. Tennis lessons is your only exception for this but very good lessons are very expensive.

I need to get back on the court again. Snow is coming and I have to go to indoor courts if I want to practice tennis. I might go back to tennis lessons again and try to get use to the game again for find a friend of mine to hit some balls with me.

tbh it's impossible to help you with your serve unless you can upload a video if it, the reason it sucks could be one million different reasons so yeah... upload a vid or go ask a trainer irl

You want to help him improve his 1st serve by telling him to hit the ball as hard as he can while trying to get it into the box? That's some pro advice right there, I'm sure he'll serve like a beast from now on

Also it is completely situational whether you should hit it flat or not.

I have not played this game is 2 years so I lost a lot of experience with the game instead tell him how you would do both serves instead of replying to my comments and trying to be right about other people. I guess you just want to look better than other people on the forum like other people I know. If you want to be that way fine but I really think that stuff should not have to be dealt with on this site.
