I finally figured it out. I've been wondering for a while why tennis has always been a sport for the western world and now I know why.

In tennis, the only way that one player can score a point is by denying a point to the other player. In all kinds of other sports, like basketball, football, and soccer, if one team gets a point the other team doesn't lose out on a point.

And this is essentially the imperialistic attitude of the western world. The "it's not enough for me to succeed, others have to fail" attitude is why tennis such an upper-class, white person's sport.

Because it's expensive.

Tennis courts are expensive to build, tennis lessons are very expensive compared in football, and rackets are pretty expensive. This leaves tennis pretty much up to the developed countries, which are often populated by white people.

If you live in Africa or the Middle East, and you can get a football for $15 to have fun with all of your friends for a long time and whenever you want, or you have to rent a tennis court for that price for just 1 hour, need to buy a racket for $150+ etc. f there is a court even(which is unlikely), it's an easy choice.

It's a shame, I mean, you can play tennis with cheap racquets and courts as far as I know don't really cost anything to maintain.

Depends on the area that they are in. I don't know much about deserts, but in areas where it snows, they have to be resurfaced quite often due to long winters with ice/snow accumulating on them.

Every sport, one team wins, and the other loses, what's the difference?
