Both of them just came out, I saw that topspin 4 got online play aswell, I'll definitely get that. (not sure if virtua got that) I hated virtua tennis 3 since they just kept throwing theirselves towards the ball and it just felt awkward while playing.

So anyway gonna buy em? :P I'm going to a friend's house later and try out TS4

i played both top spin 3 and virtua 3. TS3 was a pain in the ass learning the controls but virtua had players diving for every hit ha. I played the demo for TS4 and it seemed awesome, so it will be the game i buy

TP4 was a pretty good demo imo. cant go wrong. Wouldn't actually buy a tennis game though, not that big of a fan.

Virtua Tennis = arcade tennis. I'm not a big fan of any of their games. Fun if you don't really care for realism I suppose, but meh..

Top Spin has gotten progressively worse... Top Spin 1 was amazing I thought, but it became horrendous in Top Spin 2 (probably trying to mimic Virtua Tennis?). Top Spin 3 got much more reasonable, but gameplay wise, nothing like Top Spin 1 and certainly nothing like real life tennis. I saw some shit from Top Spin 4, and I must say, wtf? They can't even get Sampras' serving motion right..

If you want a realistic game, Dream Match Tennis Pro is the way to go IMO. Lacks the current generation graphics, lacks people online and lacks a stable multiplayer system, but playing against the computers (which are very tough to beat) the game is still extremely fun and pretty realistic to actual tennis. You have to actually time your shots and the ball moves at what I consider the correct speed, especially for serves.

You also have to time your shots in TS4. That's one of the good things about the game imo. It has a lot higher skill cap than other tennis games I've played so far, although I haven't tried out Dream Match Tennis Pro. But having an online system is really something that is essential for me to keep on playing. No matter how tough the computer is, you learn how to play effectively against them in the end. Online game-play is a must for me to even consider buying a game nowadays :P ESPECIALLY when it comes to sports games.

Well I was the same way about the online thing, and I downloaded the demo for Dream Match Tennis Pro, and now I can't go back. The gameplay is 1000 times better than any other tennis game out there. Again, the computers are very good to keep you entertained for hours on end (I have played for over a year, and I have to win against one over best of three sets if they are using a good character), and there are dedicated websites that host tournaments during the year that follow the ATP tour. For example, at the one I participate in, we just had all these events with Miami currently going.
