Im pretty big so probably 4 5/8 is what im looking for. Im also a beginner, but tend to stick with the sport for a lifetime.

Any suggestions. Stores in town do not carry this big!

Its too bad too, big 5 had raquets marked down to $69.99 from $269.99.

My suggestion would be to go to the nearest tennis club, try some different racquets and then look at the prices. It's really hard to tell which racquet would fit you, not only does the racquet vary but also the strings, tension on strings and some racquets got different sizes (even if it's originally the same model), for example some racquets got both MP (MidPlus) and a normal size for the same model.

you need to decide how good you want to be... if you just want to be able to be decent get a long racket if you want to actually work at it alot and learn to control shots etc then you want a short one

A racquet is one of those things you just have to try. As a beginner you're probably going to want a bigger racquet head, like a mid-plus(offers more forgiveness with off center hits, and usually transfers more power to the ball) with a lower string tension(offers more pop, so you can work on swing mechanics, instead of over swinging to give the ball some pace), but this is all something you should try out at a local tennis shop. Or even if a local sports store(Dick's Sporting Goods, MC Sports, etc.) offers demo racquets, always take advantage of that and try them out.

I personally like Wilson racquets, but everyone has their own personal preference, and sometimes you might like a racquet from a different brand than what you're used to.
