What is up with dementieva's serve motion?
I have never seen anyone serve like this, won't that make for a worse serve?

Probaly helps her control it but pretty sad that she has to go to that at such a high level

Yeah well I think it's weird as well, because to me it looks as if she would lose momentum serving like that?
Just wondered if this is actually a proper way to serve, or if it's bad lol

she is her serve is known to be horrible and she keeps making 5+ double faults for match that i guess her and her coach choose to abbriavte her serve for more control

you are right she does lose a ton of momentum so no pace.

Her new motion is similar to what tons of players have been swapping to (especially females) over the last 5 years or so. It's more of an andy roddick type motion where you "cock back" the serving arm instead of letting it flow through.

Just youtube it.... It's a pretty common motion for a female.

her serve has always been horrible, but there are some matches where she gets into a groove and its actually above average, although more often than not it's a major liability

i think she changed it because of an injury several years ago, and had issues going back? not 100% on that

such a fucking shame too, her groundstrokes are beautiful and with a nice serve i'm fairly confident she would have 3-5 slams by now

You're thinking of Sharapova. She's doing almost exactly the same thing.
