BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP)—Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina says he will return to tennis next week in the Thailand Open, ending eight months on the sideline after wrist surgery.

The 2009 U.S. Open champion expects to travel to Bangkok this week.

Del Potro had surgery in May but has not played since a loss Jan. 24 in the Australian Open. He underwent surgery after other methods of treatment failed to improve his right wrist.

Scary stuff. Im going through the same problem at the moment with my right wrist as well. Just finished all my x-rays and mri's, show no sign of fracture but i have instead a bone bruise. Going to see a specialist tomorrow to see what they can do for me, and tell me how much time I should take off.

Fuck yes.

hopefully he gets back into form by the AO and shows us in 2011 what a full/healthy season could have in store for him

part of me thinks this injury might have set back his development back by ~ 2 years, though.. hope this isn't the case
