Victoria Mboko vs. Elena Rybakina

2026 Doha Quarterfinals

Elena Rybakina's 9-match winning streak finally ended. Wow! She looked unstoppable for most of her matches.

The 19-year-old superstar from Canada, Victoria Mboko, defeated her in a thrilling three-set match 7-5, 4-6 and 6-4.

I probably jinxed Elena Rybakina. LOL. I swear I didn't bet on it though. She looked human vs. Qinwen Zheng last match.

Take that, Rybakina. For beating Aryna Sabalenka multiple times. Just kidding. I'm not bitter or anything. <3

An Eva Lys short video to brighten your day. She has become one of my favorite players in the WTA. I can't wait for her next match. <3

Janice Tjen is just a great young player. 23 years old. Ranked 46th in the WTA and will probably push the Top 20 by year's end.

But Dayana Yastremska continues to underwhelm given her talent level. Still 25 years old but I'm losing faith in her.
If you had asked me a year ago to name my Top 10 WTA players. I almost certainly would've mentioned Yastremska.

2-6 in her last 8 matches. Dayana Yastremska competed hard in the first set but then disappeared in the second set.
Does Dayana need a new coach and team around her? I don't understand how somebody so talented keeps losing.

I'm excited to watch the 2026 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, California.

Just a stacked field with all the WTA superstars. I'm about to watch Paula Badosa play Yulia Putintseva in 15 minutes.

Some other first-round matches that intrigue me are Zeynep Sonmez vs. McCartney Kessler later today.
Peyton Stearns vs. Solana Sierra tomorrow will also be a great match for it only being the round of 128.

Another young player I like to watch, Ella Seidel from Germany, will play Anastasia Zakharova.

Of course I want Aryna Sabalenka to do well (she has the automatic first-round bye) and Emma Raducanu also plays on Friday.
I'm a little bummed out about Eva Lys having to sit out Indian Wells because of her right knee injury. I enjoy watching her play.

Currently my Top 5 WTA players are Paula Badosa, Eva Lys, Emma Raducanu, Aryna Sabalenka and Peyton Stearns. <3
So much talent in the WTA. I probably should have a Top 25 list of my favorite players. I just enjoy watching great Tennis.

I think it's safe to say the WTA has become my second favorite sport after the NFL. I think it has surpassed the NBA, MLB and NHL for me.

Last year's 2025 Indian Wells champion, Mirra Andreeva, will look to defend her title. She has a first-round bye and plays on Friday.

I was a little sad earlier today because Paula Badosa lost in straight sets to Yulia Putintseva, 4-6 and 2-6.
Badosa was leading 3-2 in the first set. 40-0 and three straight break points to go up 4-2 but lost that game.

Paula Badosa hasn't had the greatest 2026 year so far. 3-5 record. Some health issues. But I still enjoy watching her play and cheer for her to win.

On the other hand I was pleased to see Zeynep Sonmez defeat McCartney Kessler in straight sets. 7-6 (7) and a 6-0 bagel to advance to the second round.

The young Turkish star continues to impress. Like Alperen Sengun with the Houston Rockets she is a 23-year-old superstar from Turkiye.

Anyway. Now that Paula Badosa was eliminated in the first round and Eva Lys had to withdraw due to her injury.
I'm obviously going to cheer for Aryna Sabalenka to win this Tournament. Also Emma Raducanu or Peyton Stearns.

Looking forward to the Peyton Stearns vs. Solana Sierra match tomorrow night. Hook 'Em, Peyton. Texas Longhorn pride.

But I'm nervous because I don't want to jinx my favorite WTA players. I feel a little guilty when I cheer so much and nothing good happens.

The 2026 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells has not gone the way I'd like it to go so far.
Two of my favorite players both lost in the first round. Paula Badosa and Peyton Stearns.

You have to give Solana Sierra a lot of credit. She's a talented 21-year-old star from Argentina.
I knew Sierra was going to be a tough match for Stearns. She won in straight sets 7-5 and 7-5.

Solana Sierra will face defending champion Mirra Andreeva in the second round tomorrow.

The two matches I'm looking forward to watching today. Aryna Sabalenka vs. Himeno Sakatsume.
Also Emma Raducanu vs. Anastasia Zakharova. I'd love to see Emma Raducanu win and advance.

Emma Raducanu was absolutely brilliant and sensational today. I was simply overwhelmed with joy during the match.
She advances to the third round by defeating Anastasia Zakharova in straight sets. 6-1 and 6-3. A stellar performance.

Mirra Andreeva is on a mission to defend her title at Indian Wells. A double bagel victory over Solana Sierra. 6-0 and 6-0.
On Monday Mirra Andreeva will face Katerina Siniakova in the Round of 32. If Mirra plays like this she'll be tough to beat.

Also on Sunday tomorrow. Emma Raducanu vs. Amanda Anisimova at 4:10 PM central. This will be an epic third-round match.
Emma appears to be healthy and having fun playing Tennis again. Amands is currently ranked 4th in the WTA. Let's go, Emma!

Other notable third-round matches. Aryna Sabalenka vs. Jaqueline Cristian at 1 PM tomorrow. Alexandra Eala faces Coco Gauff at 8 PM tomorrow.

I was sad when Paula Badosa and Peyton Stearns lost in the first round and Eva Lys withdrew with her knee injury. But Indian Wells has been fun.

My favorite WTA players are being eliminated at Indian Wells sooner than I'd like. I'm still watching though.

Mirra Andreeva vs. Katerina Siniakova later this afternoon. Winner advances to the Round of 16.
And Aryna Sabalenka vs. Naomi Osaka tomorrow. Winner advances to the quarterfinals (Final 8).

Another powerhouse match tomorrow. Victoria Mboko vs. Amanda Anisimova. Winner advances to the quarterfinals.

I'm just left cheering for Mirra Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka. Somehow it always comes down to Aryna Sabalenka! <3
