Nadal is jut too tough mentally and emotionally to let it go, he wants the Grand Slam. He is also a freak of nature, which gives him the edge on defense and counterattacks, not to mention his forehand which will hurt anyone standing on its way. His weak spots are his backhand and his serve, though he has improved on both over the years, and its not like they are bad its just that they are not awesome like his forehand and his defense. Also he gets the edge against Federer, mainly because Roger seems to get emotionally shaken by Nadals confidence, which in turn makes him take bad decisions along the game imo. Federer obviously has a larger arsenal of tricks on its sleeve than Nadal, and also more technique, he just doesnt make full use of them. Federers best bet is to wait for someone to knock Nadals out.

Er what? Nadal's forehand is both a strength and a curse on hardcourts. His backhand is much more flat which helps him tremendously. The year he won the Australian Open, his backhand was perfect.

The Federer and Nadal thing is more of a matchup issue than it is "emotional" just like Nadal struggles against players with strong two handed backhands, Federer naturally struggles against players who use that looping forehand to his backhand. Nadal doesn't even play "amazing" against Federer. Anytime he needs to come up with a point he draws the error off Federer's backhand. It is tough for Federer to run around and hit forehands like he normally does since Nadal's forehand spins into the backhand rather than away which makes a tight squeeze.

Don't forget guys that there's been a lot of surprises the last few Australian Opens... Baghdatis in final... Tsonga in final... Djokovic first slam win... first few I can think of..

Djoko's win was not really that much of a surprise after the final was planned. More like the surprise was the early exits (for whatever reason, I forgot :( ) of 'the big 2'.

I have faith in Federer for this tournament :D . Also Djokovic looked so strong, and you could see he was not even making that much of an effort, because the other guy broke his serve once and he broke back on a love game right after out of frustration.

I'm actually starting to like DJoko as a player, if you see his interviews and how he acts outside the court you would never expect him to seem this annoying/irritated on the court.

Yeah, I too have faith in Federer this tournament... yes when the final was already set up Djokovic was the favourite, but before the tournament that would be considered as a little surprise, it'd be like if Murray won this slam out of nowhere. Yeah I hated joker in the beginning, didn't find his play that interesting, and I still don't today but I don't hate him anymore cause he's so hilarious off court and a cool guy :)

While I agree with your points, still think that Federer could make better use of his tennis against Nadal, ive seen him do it several times against other players, his backhand is not bad, but somehow against Nadals spinning forehand he has trouble making it work, maybe Federers should insist on going for Nadals backhand, it is pretty clear to me that his backhand is better than Nadals, but he struggles mentally on times that he usually would be alright. Still think that Nadals spinning forehand is his main weapon, also the fact that he is left handed helps, when you consider that most of the other players are right handed. And when I said that his forehand is his main strenght, its because it doesnt fail on him usually. On the other hand, his backhand which can prove very helpful at times, is not always working constantly.

Left hand is an advantage even against other left handed players due to the fact that they don't play lefties as often... also you can't "just hit a ball to Nadals backhand", that guy is hitting forehands all over the place, so when he plays it towards Federers backhand, Federer would have to not only hit a good backhand but also hit it straight since Nadal is left-handed, obviously he can't hit it cross court if he wants to hit it to his backhand... hitting a 1 handed back hand down the line against Nadal who has the most topspin in the world is ridiculously hard.
