Aryna Sabalenka is playing some of her greatest Tennis of the year at the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh so far.
She's a perfect 3-0 in her matches with wins against Jasmine Paolini (6-3, 6-1), Jessica Pegula (6-4, 2-6, 6-3)

And today she defeated Coco Gauff in straight sets with some clutch play in a first set tiebreak, 7-6 (5), 6-2

The round-robin format is over. Aryna Sabalenka has made it to the Final Four (Semifinals) against Amanda Anisimova. Today at 11:10 AM Eastern.

I'll be cheering for Aryna Sabalenka of course. She is my favorite WTA player of all-time. I'm proud of her win or lose. And lately she's on another elite level compared to everybody else. She needs to win two more matches to win her first WTA Finals Title. And she has a chance to cap off an incredible year with a 5-0 record at the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh.

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Amanda Anisimova in a three-set thriller, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3

It's going to be Aryna Sabalenka versus Elena Rybakina at 11 AM Eastern tomorrow for the 2025 WTA Finals Title in Riyadh.
Aryna has an opportunity to go a perfect 5-0 at the 2025 WTA Finals. She will have beaten all the best players in the WTA.

The Super Bowl of the WTA. The greatest Tennis player in the world, #1 ranked Aryna Sabalenka, is trying to end a fantastic year of dominance tomorrow.

I've been feeling sad and crying all day because Aryna Sabalenka lost in straight sets to Elena Rybakina, 3-6, 6-7 (0)
She fought hard and competed in that intense second set but fell apart in the tiebreaker. Didn't score a single point.

Just like the Cincinnati Open on my birthday back on August 15. Aryna lost to Rybakina in straight sets (1-6, 4-6)
I didn't want to post about the WTA today to be honest. But this is like a user blog that is helping me accept reality.

As much as it pains me I have to congratulate Elena Rybakina. She took advantage claiming the last spot at the 2025 WTA Finals.
She only made it at the last minute because Mirra Andreeva had fallen apart and lost her last three matches. So kudos to Elena.

To literally go from a slim chance of making the 2025 WTA Finals to making it and going a perfect 5-0 at Riyadh. She earned all of her success.

Aryna Sabalenka still ended the 2025 calendar year ranked #1 in the WTA but her first WTA Finals Title eluded her once again.

So what's next for me? I don't know. Looking ahead to 2026 I'm excited for the return of Paula Badosa. She is working hard to come back.
I've seen Badosa's recent training videos on X and hopefully she can have a healthy 2026. Paula Badosa is my second favorite WTA player.

Besides the much anticipated return of Paula Badosa ( <3 ), I also want to see how the 18-year-old superstar Mirra Andreeva overcomes adversity in 2026. Mirra is so talented and just needs to control her emotions on the court. Elena Rybakina wouldn't have won the 2025 WTA Finals Title (over $5 million prize money) if Mirra Andreeva hadn't suffered that heartbreaking late-season collapse and surrendered the final spot to Elena Rybakina.

I watch a lot of Tennis. I've seen it all. There's no guarantees. If you don't play your absolute best you can lose. The WTA is simply that good right now.

Paula Badosa recently posted this on her Instagram and X account. Beautiful. I'm ready to cheer for her every match in 2026.
Her comeback is going to be special. Once ranked #2 in the WTA. She's fallen to 25 with all of her injuries. Her heart is unmatched.
Her willpower and mental toughness is inspirational. She's putting in the work, mentally and physically, to come back even stronger.

Quote

"Sometimes life shakes us so hard that we think we won’t be able to get up. We go through moments when the soul is broken in silence, where doubts weigh more than hope and where the inner noise does not let you hear anything else. But it is right there, in that void, where something sacred begins: the reunion with oneself.

To heal is not to forget or pretend that it did not hurt. To heal is to look at you with compassion, to recognize your wounds and to understand that everything you lived was a necessary part of the way. It is discovering that peace is not in what you have, or in whom it accompanies you, but in the simple fact of being able to breathe calmly with yourself.

There comes a time when you understand that you don’t need anything external to feel complete. That serenity is born when you stop looking outside for what was always inside. And that’s when everything changes: what once hurt, now teaches; what it once weighed, now drives." - Paula Badosa

Let's go, Paula Badosa! She's going to be back on top and winning many more Tournaments. I'm going to cheer for her every match. With all my energy in 2026. <3

Two young WTA stars: 23-year-old Eva Lys (ranked 40) from Germany played 23-year-old Zeynep Sonmez (ranked 113) from Turkey.

The Billie Jean King Cup is not an official WTA match, but rather an elite women's international team competition.
But some of the talent at the Billie Jean King Cup is incredible. I was able to watch some of this match. So good!

If I put together my top 10 WTA players list. Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa are my top two. But I'd have Eva Lys and Zeynep Sonmez on my Top 10.

Zeynep Sonmez used to be in the Top 70 WTA ranking but she ended her 2025 official WTA calendar year losing 3 out of her last 4 matches.
Including a stunner against Ajla Tomljanovic a month ago. Sonmez led 5-0 in the first set but ended up losing in straight sets, 6-7 (6), 3-6

But as you can see Zeynep Sonmez is clearly as talented as Eva Lys. A player ranked 40. Sonmez won in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 (bagel third set).

I had almost forgotten how sensational 18-year-old superstar Mirra Andreeva was. She's a top WTA talent. No doubt.
A lot of people talk about her late season collapse. Losing 4 out of her last 6 matches. It was just so surprising is all.

Elena Rybakina ended up taking Mirra's spot at the 2025 WTA Finals. Making the most of it. Going 5-0 and winning it all.
But before Mirra Andreeva had fallen apart late in the year. She was playing some exceptional Tennis. Difficult to defeat.

This was Mirra Andreeva defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka during the 2025 Indian Wells Final. 2–6, 6–4 ,6–3

I'm really missing some WTA action. There's a lot of down time between now and January 2, 2026. The start of a new year.
I'll be cheering for a lot of players in 2026. I definitely want to see Mirra back on top. But my heart belongs to Paula Badosa. <3

Aryna Sabalenka is off to a sensational start in 2026. Competing at the Brisbane International Tournament. She has won all four matches in straight sets. She defeated Cristina Bucsa in the first round 6-0, 6-1. She defeated Sorana Cirstea in the second round 6-3, 6-3. She defeated Madison Keys in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-3. And then she defeated Karolina Muchova in the semifinals 6-3, 6-4.

Aryna Sabalenka will now face Marta Kostyuk in the 2026 Brisbane International Final. The winner will take home the prize of $214,530 dollars.
For Sabalenka this would be another dominating run to start a calendar year. Especially right before the 2026 Australian Open begins next week.

I was also excited to watch Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa compete in the Doubles event at the Brisbane International. That's a dream team to me. But unfortunately after winning the first match against against Zhang Shuai and Liudmila Samsonova 7-6 (2) and 7-6 (3) they were unable to play their next doubles match because Paula Badosa was unable to compete (walkover). Due to Paula Badosa having played a three-hour long singles match an hour before the scheduled doubles match.

Paula Badosa is trying to make a healthy comeback in 2026 so she made a business decision not to overwork herself which I totally understand. Paula Badosa ended up losing to Elena Rybakina in the Round of 16 (3-6, 2-6). 18-year-old superstar Mirra Andreeva (who I also cheered for) lost to Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals 6-7 (7) and 3-6.

But anyway. Aryna Sabalenka is yet to lose a set in 2026. For both singles and doubles. Her and Badosa would've likely won the doubles together. I'll be cheering for Sabalenka to continue her dominant run. I hope she wins the Brisbane International and then goes on to win the 2026 Australian Open. I just don't see Aryna Sabalenka losing anytime soon. Knock on wood. <3

Aryna Sabalenka just swept the Brisbane International Tournament. 5-0 in all five matches. She never lost a set.
She defeated Marta Kostyuk in straight sets during the Brisbane International Final 6-4, 6-3. Aryna won $214,530.
Next up will be the 2026 Australian Open. I think Aryna Sabalenka is going to win that as well. Will she lose a set?

Aryna Sabalenka defeated the talented 20-year-old Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah in the first round at the Australian Open 6-4, 6-1.
The first set was surprisingly competitive. Much credit to Tiantsoa (her full name is cool but hard to spell). Aryna hasn't lost a set in 2026.

I'm still a little depressed that Aryna Sabalenka lost in the 2026 Australian Open Final against Elena Rybakina.
Aryna fought back after losing the first set and also had a 3-0 lead in the third set. Rybakina's serve is just elite.

Nothing has gone the way I'd like it to go in the early going for the 2025 WTA season. Singles or Doubles. The first month was a let down for me.

Ajla Tomljanovic interviewing Eva Lys cheers me up. Lys is one of my favorite players to watch. She is close to winning some Tournaments. A big year ahead.
