I've been feeling sad and crying all day because Aryna Sabalenka lost in straight sets to Elena Rybakina, 3-6, 6-7 (0)
She fought hard and competed in that intense second set but fell apart in the tiebreaker. Didn't score a single point.
Just like the Cincinnati Open on my birthday back on August 15. Aryna lost to Rybakina in straight sets (1-6, 4-6)
I didn't want to post about the WTA today to be honest. But this is like a user blog that is helping me accept reality.
As much as it pains me I have to congratulate Elena Rybakina. She took advantage claiming the last spot at the 2025 WTA Finals.
She only made it at the last minute because Mirra Andreeva had fallen apart and lost her last three matches. So kudos to Elena.
To literally go from a slim chance of making the 2025 WTA Finals to making it and going a perfect 5-0 at Riyadh. She earned all of her success.
Aryna Sabalenka still ended the 2025 calendar year ranked #1 in the WTA but her first WTA Finals Title eluded her once again.
So what's next for me? I don't know. Looking ahead to 2026 I'm excited for the return of Paula Badosa. She is working hard to come back.
I've seen Badosa's recent training videos on X and hopefully she can have a healthy 2026. Paula Badosa is my second favorite WTA player.
Besides the much anticipated return of Paula Badosa (

), I also want to see how the 18-year-old superstar Mirra Andreeva overcomes adversity in 2026. Mirra is so talented and just needs to control her emotions on the court. Elena Rybakina wouldn't have won the 2025 WTA Finals Title (over $5 million prize money) if Mirra Andreeva hadn't suffered that heartbreaking late-season collapse and surrendered the final spot to Elena Rybakina.
I watch a lot of Tennis. I've seen it all. There's no guarantees. If you don't play your absolute best you can lose. The WTA is simply that good right now.
