You do realize when a hitter is swinging at a pitch, the majority of the time, it's pretty quiet in the ballpark right?

Tennis and golf have always been this way, it takes the utmost concentration and you can rely only on yourself, not a teammate. You can rely on teammates to pick you up after a mistake, I have already stated this to you. This is really not that hard of a point to understand that tennis and golf are gentlemen's sports and are classy. It's been like that since their origins.

Okay so just admit that it's just a matter of appealing to tradition. That doesn't make it the correct choice.
And it's not true that it's usually quiet when a batter is about to hit. Don't make things up like that.
Whether or not a player has teammates is entirely irrelevant, because each of those teammates is still performing under the same pressure as an individual tennis player. Just because a team can afford more mistakes than an individual tennis player doesn't mean that distraction plays any less of a role in affecting the outcome of the game.

In men's tennis, one break of serve usually means a set... That's pressure on yourself. You are so wrong on this matter, and it's already been pointed out by 5 other people who have actually watched and/or played the game. The margin of error in tennis is hell of a lot more than in team sports.

In other sports there are plenty of instances where the margin of error is just as slim as in tennis. If it's the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, 3-2, the margin of error for a batter/pitcher is zero. Should the crowd be made to be silent during this period?

You obviously have no experience playing/watching tennis judging by this comment you just made. Tennis is by far the most mental sport in the world, golf being a close second. Individual sports have a lot more pressure than team sports, it's already proven.

argument by assertion, and all you did was repeat what you've already said.

Your opinion is wrong, considering no one here agrees with it. And you have been constantly repeating yourself as well.

My point is already made and valid not to mention the consensus choice for those who actually follow the sport unlike yourself.

Read into sport psychology and do a little research when comparing individual to team sports.

Consensus has no bearing on truth. And I don't think I've repeated myself. I rebutted your point and you repeated the same point several times after that.
Have you read into sport psychology and done research? And has your research concluded that tennis requires substantial more concentration than other sports, and that a crowd cheering has any more effect on a tennis player than other athletes?
Tell me what your research has found, I'm dying to know.

http://intro2psych.***/2009/05/15/the-riddle-of-personality-and-sport/

Here's just one article that shows affects of individual sport players and their personality traits compared to team sports and theirs.

Point being if a crowd got wild and loud, imagine the affect on someone playing an individual sport and a pressure point when they have mostly passive, controlled, and focused personalities.

That's just one I found, do a little research and back your "opinion" up.

Honestly, I think if Roger would've started crying in his speech, I would've joined him :*)
