I thought it was premature to say such a thing during the Spring hardcourt season, but after he notched his first clay victory over Nadal, this seems almost inevitable. Technically he is at the top if we are considering the ATP race, but of course Nadal has quite a bit of points to still defend until the end of the US Open..

Djokovic is already the new king. Beating Federer and Nadal on multiple occasions already this year.

How would that be sarcasm. Nadal is still in the best position to defend the rest of his points and stay ranked number oner for the rest of the year, while Djokovic still has work to do at the slams if he wants the top spot.

so you're saying that while djokovic has beaten the top 2 players in the world consistently he's not the new "king"

In a ranking sport like tennis, no he is still not the "king" yet. Yes he has been the best player by far since the Australian Open, but he could easily just start losing matches from now on. He still has to reach that last step for the world number one ranking which he can actually achieve in Rome if Nadal bows out early and Djokovic wins it.

Id like to see him on the french open, he is looking great really, although the clay on the french open is usually slower than those of madrid and rome, which might favor Nadal a little bit, but seeing as Djokovic has been playing lately he could just shit on everyone all over again(including Nadal).

Yes it will be extremely interesting if they meet at Roland Garros especially since he has never beaten Rafael in a best of 5 match before.

Buddy, he is ranked number one in the 2011 race ranking points, he's like 3500 points ahead of Nadal this year and 5,000 ahead of Federer. Nadal still has 3 major titles to defend from last year, that 6,000 points...he can't gain anymore more points from the rest of the majors this year, he can only break even meanwhile Djokovic can increase his race points as he only has 2 semi finals (RG and Wimbledon) and 1 final (USO). Face it Djokovic is the new king and number 1. The only way Nadal can hold onto the 1 ranking after RG is if he wins it again and Djokovic doesn't make the finals. Even if Djokovic loses in the 1st round and Nadal loses in the finals or earlier the number 1 ranking is DJokovics.
