Well I have developed a love for tennis.
But I never had anyone to teach me, and the last couple of years I have just been playing with friends.

Yesterday I played a couple of hours with a swedish coworker, and damn did he have a lot of things to teach me.
Most importantly footwork and the swing of my forehand.

It's hard to work on playing with a better/right technique when you have played with a wrong technique for "ever".
But allready I feel the changes I have started to make have imporved my groundstrokes (and volley) alot.

Will take alot of practice to change my game, and improve though.

He also taught me a variant of the kickserve, where I add a bit of slice, so that it's between kick and twist serve.
I got this down quite good, and will help me as I've been double faulting alot before!

Feels good man, feels god.

On another note, I do 2-handed backhand the best (with the most control), but I really like one-handed, and sometimes I play both.
What do you guys think I should do about it? Try to practice one-handed, or just stick with two-handed, which I'm better at now, allthough I sometimes have a lose grip with my off-hand, so technique isn't really good.

Good to hear you're back on the court ;)

Tbh go for the one-handed backhand. Why? Because apparently you like it more. No point in going with a two-handed backhand even if it's slightly better now... if you just practise a bit and get someone to teach you the right technique with a one-handed backhand then you might as well go for that! After all you're playing tennis to have fun, right?

Yeah I'm playing tennis to have fun (no comptetitive level), and I guess that is what I wanted to hear about the backhand. I love watching federer (or wawrinka?) slam down those backhand winners, and I feel better about playing it (more fun I guess).

Thanks for positive feedback, and I'll definitely post more in this thread. Maybe even I'll let you know how it will go in my clubs tournament, but I guess my only chance to win this year would be in the hc-tournament ^^

Yeah and imo it's such a great feeling when you learn a one-handed backhand with the right technique because your arm feels so free while hitting through the ball. A two-handed backhand on the other hand makes your arms feel locked/stiff... at least that's the reason I chose one-handed backhand when I was younger. :)

Hehe, well best of luck in the tournament & keep us updated :D

ps. did you know you're the second highest donator I've had? :P I knew I recognized your name from somewhere and I checked my profile.. you once donated some d2 items to random people (one of them was me) and I later sold those for fg, that was like 3 years ago or so but still pretty hilarious.

Good to have fellow piers here, though I guess you're some levels above me!

And haha, that's really cool to hear about, I remember doing some donations.

If you're game is strength based, go with the one hander.
