The big discussion

Currently, Federer is 29, and has two daughters.
Though he is still showing dominance, there is more competition facing him, which some think may lead to his retirement.
What do you think?
I think he'll retire in 1-2 years

Worst case scenario I say 2 years, best case I say about 5. He's still very healthy. You're correct in that there's more competition than in earlier in his career. Most people when he was up and coming were fading in their careers, now it's the opposite. He's aging, and younger players are getting better and better.I also think he's struggling lately because he's trying to change his game to better suit playing against somebody like Nadal, since that's his main competition in protecting his legacy(hence getting a coach) I predict he wins about 3 more slams in his career and ends up 1 shy of 20.

Now the follow up question.
With Federer gone, how would Nadal fare in the majors?
Would it be easier to win the majors aside from French?
Will he break sampras's, and possibly fed's record?

nadal will b the favorite obviously, and winning majors aside from french? maybe, unless djokovic or murray or del potro or soderling steps up and breaking sampras? possibly, breaking feds? depends on how many majors he will b able to win until he retires

i think he will end up with like 15 or so, gonna depend a lot on how long murray stays a choker and whether certain other players can stick around/do damage at majors - djokovic, cilic, del potro, maybe if gulbis figures his shit out

I think Djoker has showed lately that he can hang with the big boys when he gets that mental game together. Murray has yet t o show that he can do the same. I can see Del Po really making a mark on hardcourts if he gets healthy soon enough. Dunno about Cilic, could be a player like Soderling/Berdych who has the potential but just can't quite convert it yet.

The 2012 Olympics might be a good time for him to quit. He really wants the olympic single title so badly for all his career. He has the doubles with wawrinka of course but I hope to see him win the single too :)
