ADCs have been pretty consistent over the years. It is just more recently where they are whacking up the balance. ADC will be fine it is just the few that will sit in lower tiers that might get neglected as usual. As for items it would not be a surprise to me if they eventually just classed champs and restricted items to those classes like what is done with ranged/melee champ items. We are very dangerously close to this. I don't really want this, but I can see this being the solution they are forced to use unless they want to continue reworking 'outdated' champions because they want to introduce an item they will only keep around for 1-2 seasons.

Every pre-season sucks. Nobody enjoys pre-season and balance changes follow the same model each time: marketing and winrates above/below 50%.

I'm 100% mentally prepared each season for an absolute dumb shit pre-season, anime referenced skins, and probably new runes (joke)

Ever since 2018 tencent has pivoted very aggressively towards e-sports and marketing and the game has been on a very steep decline ever since in terms of how they are managing the pre-existing content. There are so many champions and items, and they want to continue introducing new/experimental content into the main game before getting a handle on their shit. It has been running like this always. League hasn't changed too much in this aspect, but what has changed is how they've decided to approach balancing based off of profits and marketability. I will not be surprised if LoL just suddenly starts getting the fortnite treatment where they just straight-up add naruto into the game because it is trending. Smh dumb game anyone who plays is dumb.

tl;dr dumb

I've been saying this for a long time but it isn't really true. Older players leaving is more likely, but LoL has an incredibly attractive business model that is making it grow and accumulate more players+audience thanks to E-Sports. There are many people who watch Professional gameplay and they don't even play the game.

How many new players do you think are being attracted to the game yearly?

Watching is irrelevant, as soon as enough pros leave they will always find something else to watch. Hope riot is paying Faker well

I think it's like 7 million on average but this is a guess. Definitely in the millions though. In 2017 the game was most popular and then declined a lot in 2018 with a drop in the playerbase. I was one who also quit at that time.

As long as the prize pool continues to increase, there will always be upcoming pros to replace the old -- nothing new.

What we know is that in 2018 many players quit and I think these are largely veteran players who did not like the changes. It is possible the game could have another drop in players -- but many of them are dormant and may simply take a hiatus from playing. I reinstalled just this month since 2018. LoL has plenty of room to run even if its playerbase is cut in half next preseason.

Nah , the only reason this has really stuck around is due to lack of moba competition
Hots garbage
Dota2 fun but apparatus is not as alluring

Same reason people download robinhood over an actual brokerage application

Lol has presentation. “Plenty of room” is really just words for whenever it actually gets meaningful competition

Makes me feel warm seeing them disabling all chat as this reassures my decision to quit in s6. I remember trying hots and not being able to type in all chat was cringe.
