AD main with support as secondary role, I’ve been playing these roles since season 3 and just need a change up due to numerous reasons. I’m a bad player overall, high gold/low plat AD player. Decided jungle will be my new role. Only ever played jungle in drips and drabs, a bit in season 4 and 5 when tanks were broken, but mostly when auto filled as of late, but have always done Okay-ish when forced into that role. Seems like the most fun role, and is probably the easiest to climb with, if decent at it.

Champs I’d look to play are:

Khazix
Graves
Elise
Kayn
Zac
Sejuani
Rammus
Hecarim
Vi
Amumu
(I know a few of these are weak right now, and I’d narrow that list down to what I excel at)

I know the basics, but have a few questions:
-How do I know the most optimal clear path for each champ? Is there websites which update frequently to show jungle clear paths? Usually I just wing it and do what I think is the best path, but obviously if i take up this role full time I’ll need to know exactly what I’m doing.
-in champ select do you pick junglers based on jungle match up, or team composition?
-if all lanes are hard losing and close to ungankable, what’s the best thing a jungle can do? Ignore all lanes, power farm, and play for dragons/rift?

Any other tips and tricks are appreciated. FWIW I’m probably a silver tier jungle so I really do know SFA as it is

High plat/low diamond jg main here.

1- Optimal clear paths are typically centered around champion power spikes. Level 2/3/4.
- Some champions can power clear (Udyr) and be level 4 before scuttle spawns. In these instances you full clear and fight at scuttle as you will have a level advantage on most junglers.
- Some champions spike well with level 2/3 (Elise/J4/Graves) and want to utilize a 3 camp clear into a fast gank.
- I optimize my path based on how lanes are playing or how my laners want to play. If I know top is going to get shoved in, I will 3 camp for a fast level 3 and quick gank before they get a chance to ward.

2- Yes, I pick my jungler based on enemy team comp if I can. Sometimes I'm first pick so I pick a generic jungler, or try to make a pick with whatever my teammates are hovering. If we need hard engage, peel, wave clear, etc. Pick appropriately.

3- I try and find the enemy with the highest bounty and dive them. Trading 1 for 1 + a bounty is always worth it.

Okay, understood points 2 and 3. Just to touch on point 1, so I understand that initial jungle path is based on the level powerspike, e.g try to be top, scuttle or bot at level 2/3 or even 4, but how about after first rotation / gank?

Say it’s around 5 mins in the game, you 3 camp, gank top for a kill, and base reset on low hp. Where do you go from there, assuming all your small jungle camps are back up and scuttles are both down? Do you look at lane minions in top/bot and see what’s pushing toward your own tower (or enemy tower if good dive champs) and start opposite side of map and clear toward that? Or should you always clear in a certain order based on what champ your using, and once the jungle is cleared, THEN look to gank?

Also if it’s the first option, of reading the lane push and pathing toward that, how can you rely on low elo teammates to keep that freeze or slow push etc.?

After first rotation you look at lane states and see which is pushing and create a path towards that. Or if someone is pinging that they want to set something up. I would also play around CC. An ally that can lock someone down for a little should burn a flash or get a kill. If you blow a flash then you repeat gank in the next 5 minutes.

If I do a 3 camp, then I reverse clear my camps and gank the opposite lane typically.

You can't rely on low elo teammates to know how to freeze/push but you react while you're in the area. If you're in top side jungle and enemy top is shoved, make an appearance. Same thing goes for bot/mid. I try to farm as much as possible, being efficient with my time, and pinging wards/where enemy jungler should be.

Don't clear in a certain order, you have to look at what camps are spawning/up currently and base your clear around that.

Nice okay cool.

When you say make an appearance? Just hover around top ready to gank if it’s noticeably unwarded, or do you literally kind of show in lane, even if it’s not gankable, just to take pressure of your top?

Hover mainly, unless my laner is getting reemed then I will show to force the enemy to play safer
