Cuz people think they deserve a certain rank when everyone should realize the system puts you where you belong and most players in the world will never get past gold and that's alright. If you boost to diamond and are a silver player originally, sooner or later you're going to tank back down.

i have never done it , but i assume its because they want to see how they stack up vs them . +some im sure its for their epeen .

Sometimes people just need to be pulled to pass a stucked elo in order to return climbing by themselves.

That means being boosted by 2-3 divisions.

Longer boosts are most of times just to camp an elo and wank over it.

I got boosted from iron 3 to gold 4 and climbed to diamond 3 before falling to diamond 4 and stayed there

Why? Because I was lazy to climb on an unranked account.

most people think they deserve higher elos, but are kept down with teammates etc

sometimes it's true, but i'd say in 95% cases it's not the case.
my mate was silver for 3 years, bought a boost to plat and climbed himself to d4 afterwards where he proudly gatekeeps now.

sometimes people are good, but don't have a 1v9 potential in them.
in most cases , they'll mess up their mmr after boost and end up in their real elo next season^^
