Common coaching myths I've seen / experienced on this forum

"A high-ranked player must also be a good coach!"

No. It is extremely common for top-ranked players and streamers to learn specific champions or roles, but know very little about how the game is played. The majority of other coaches on this forum are role coaches and unable to effectively break down game theory and fundamentals outside of their area of expertise.

"Higher ranked coaches will provide me with better coaching!"

No. Players need feedback and advice that they can understand, practice, and actually execute at their current level to get to the next tier. When coaching a bronze player, slamming them with challenger-tier laning mechanics is an utter waste. All of my lessons are tailored to you and your preferences after I've had a chance to benchmark your current skills.

"Higher Solo Q rank directly equates to a better understanding of the game!"

No. Solo Q is a great place to train mechanics, champion mastery, test item/champion builds, and keep up with the meta. It will teach you next to nothing about macro fundamentals and what organized play looks like.

"After one coaching session, I should expect to climb entire tiers immediately!"

Not necessarily. After analyzing your play, a coach should provide you with a deeper understanding of the game, actionable steps, and effective practice methods to improve. The application is down to you.

"Coaching is useless!"

No. League of Legends is complicated game. Coaches help you sort through the massive amount of game knowledge necessary to be a great player and (SHOULD) make the game easier to understand + accelerate your learning.

I should just pay for a boost!"

Yep.
