What would you say is the old 1500 elo or season 1-2 gold is today?

I feel like low gold is pretty much high silver from old seasons.

i'm not sure exactly what you're asking. you're asking us to compare gameplay between season 1/2 and season 9? that doesn't seem very easy to do.

but from a logical standpoint, gold and below ELOs are almost certainly inflated given the "free series win" mechanic that riot implemented so low ELO players would enjoy the game more (feel a sense of progression and higher chance to get rewards)



don't want to spam this thread with a boosting discussion, but many people buying boosts ask for champion/role-specific boosts so it's less obvious. my last two jobs, one person asked me to play adc only. the other person asked me to play a few select top/jg champs.

Couldn't find season 2 ranked distribution, but I remember plat was the highest. Season 3 ranked distribution:

Season 3 gold ranged from 1520 to 1899 ELO. This accounted for top 13%-1.5%

Diamond is currently top 3.44% in NA
Platinum is currently top 17.41% in NA

So old 1500 ELO is probably around current plat 2.

not really an apples to apples comparison b/c there's significantly more players as well, so that doesn't work.

the learning curve in a game also tends to increase as time passes (more items/builds/champions and players develop over time)

This is what percentages account for...

i'm saying you can't draw the same conclusions from that %. being top 10% in a 10-person pool is very different from being top 10% in a million-person pool.

secondly, you can't draw the same conclusion given how much the game AND playerbase has evolved over 8 years.
