There's a reason Faker plays mid and not another role. He is the best player in the world.

Mid is everywhere on the map (similar to jungle w/ roams), mid can be ganked from 2 sides w/ 3 routes each assuming tower is up/safe, mid needs wave clear the fastest, mid is typically just as fragile as the AD and needs to play safe in fights, mid is part of every objective.
