agree w/ poonisher.

someone who takes 1,000 games to climb from silver to gold is not the same as someone who takes 100 games to do the same climb. the implication is a massive disparity in winrate.

threes is a massive exception. but either way, it's very little money compared to time depending on what your real life alternatives are.

the obvious upside though, is that you can make money on something you enjoy.

1) sad thing is that rank is not indicative of mmr anymore. Really wish they brought back old system

2) yeah wouldn't recommend as a career ofc. More of a hobby. Tbh kind of reminds me of uber drivers (making min wage with varying pricing with surge peaks. some customers are annoying (duo jobs) others u can just chill). Get meager money on small jobs but on longer ones it's actually decent (and on rush jobs or near peak hours (e.g. season ending) u make drastically more). Only prob tho is that there isn't always a demand for boosts to balance out the pay difference.

Not to mention the fact that u have to average 1 to 2 divisions a day to be making anything

GIMME OLD SYSTEM BACK

I remember end of season 2 dipping between gold and silver daily. Stressful times haha.

yeah, it's very lumpy in terms of supply/demand. uber's a good comparison. think it's far below minimum wage though, especially gold and below jobs.

other thing to keep in mind is that most people who purchase boosts have fucked MMR. wont skip on a fucked account unless it's a long engagement and you can fix the MMR.

let's say on average you gain 17 LP. that's 8 games to promote each div. 9 games to promote each tier.

silver 4-->gold 4 elo job with scuffed mmr = 33 games, assuming 100% winrate.

s4 --> g4 = ~4k fg = ~$40 .. you're at about $1-$2 /hr

he plays all day everyday because it's his job, can't use number of games played to define anything there bub
he consistently makes it to the top 1% with ease and floats there going back and forth

Quote (Poonisher @ Nov 25 2019 01:51pm)
I don't think barely managing 50% win rate can qualify as "with ease"

With ease would be describing tf blades climbs (who also plays every day, cause its also his job) who can maintain 75+% win rate
and consistently hit masters + 3 days to 1 week playing.

The number of games played defines his skill level. The fact that its his job or not doesn't change anything.

@Udsuna - curious your thoughts here, since Poonisher articulated it so well.

Don't really like doing the fg vs $ comparison because realistically i generally hope anyone boosting on jsp isn't quitting their job for this.

But yeah agreed. Generally takes a few divisions before mmr goes back to normal. I remember on one of my diamond boosts this season legit went on a fresh acc silver 3 to plat 1 in like 3 days lol. Didn't play a single promo game

Back when had to have like 55% wr to even get anywhere.

Now you got diamond players with 48% win rate boasting about their ranks.

I like to practice champs on boosts. I mean there isn't really a crossover to main ranks, but beats playing norms. Legit can't even play norms anymore. Wished mmr on norms hard reset so I could stop randomly finding masters players in my norms. I shouldn't have to op.gg my norms games.....

funny part about 3s tho was that it was paying the remaining difference on my college tuition for the first two years. Shit was sick

yeah, i think it's pretty meh as a side hustle. good as long as it's enjoyable to play.

for me anyway, lower the boost job = more fun

I think the main point here is that he has the mentality of a hardstuck bronze player crying about elo hell in high elo.
We can't contest the fact that he is indeed high elo. Though i'm not so sure he could hit Masters + if we had old elo system back. He's kind of the definition of hardstuck d1 player. Too good for low elo, too bad for peak elo.
We can view him as being more at the top of the bottom 99% rather than in the bottom of the top 1%

I've never seen someone complain so much about how x,y,z champion are so fucking broken while simultaneously refusing to play the meta.
When and if he's playing said broken champion because chat pressures him into it finally and he performs poorly he starts ranting about other broken champions that aren't even present in the current game he's playing.

From any side of a matchup the champion he is facing always has the edge.

Has the map awareness of a bronze player. Excluding 1/1mil Pogchamp tp plays.

It is known that you can simply hard camp the guy and he will tilt and will feed.

Is that a persona? I don't know, i feel like he was like that before personas were really a thing on twitch.

/E If you want to climb and get better at the game. Watch hashinshin for a couple hours. Think exactly the opposite of how he thinks. Collect lp.
