High risk, high reward champions are champions that require incredibly ballsy, all-in plays to reap rewards.
Generally refers to excellent snowballers, assassins, high burst type of champions (KhaZix, Akali, Leblanc, etc)

I agree that snowball assassins are definitely more "high risk, high reward".

Though with my experience, if orianna doesnt get a good lane phase, her mid game is stupidly weak.

But Orianna is a safe champion during lane phase.
You can be aggressive while being safe or play completely safe and just farm.

By "weak", you mean in terms of damage
Anyone's mid game would be pretty weak if they don't have a good lane phase

Anywho, Orianna is a champion that doesn't necessarily need damage mid-game
Where she lacks damage, she always makes up in utility

Honestly, a broken champion when mastered.
The only reason it's not being nerfed or heavily picked is because of the assassin meta we are in (Akali, Zed, KhaZix, Lee Sin, Diana, Jayce, etc)

Which is why kha is getting nerfed into the ground YAY SQUISH GOES THE BUG. No longer gunna be nom nomming my little clockwork ball lady.

Her utility is arguably the best out of all the AP mids.
