they try to be different by doing what?

1) Removing runes which is a strategic part of Hon/Dota that requires warding and attention to game times constantly
2) Removing creep denies/tower denies/player denies so that you are rewarded for auto attacking and your attention to detail requirement is set to a steady 0
3) Removing the balanced item system and replacing it with fucking retarded items that take 3 minutes to farm like items that ressurect you, items that add your ability power so any hero can play any role
4) Making the game free so that people who suck dick and cant play competitive games and 11 year olds who cant afford them will flock to them
5) LoL doesn't have 3 million fucking players, it has 3 million accounts. There is a massive difference.
6) Removing graphics technology and bringing it down 50 notches to 2D shit at best that is maybe 1 step up from the original GameBoy
7) Allowing people to farm neutral camps easy as balls since they do no fucking damage, have no fucking health, and give you game breaking buffs if you kill them, respawning constantly
8) Replacing actually decent heros and balance concepts with a bunch of noob spew and anime based trash that only little kids and 40 year old virgins in their mothers basement could appreciate

These are not opinions, these are facts. I have a level 30 account that someone gave me, and if I were to play it would be vs level 30s, and let me tell you, these fucking people suck, weather theyre on my team or the other team 90% of the people playing are incompitent retards. Win or lose I will go outrageous kdrs with any fucking hero just because the game is that fucking easy. I don't know how many times I've picked shaco for shits and giggles and literally auto attacked some retard to death because it took him 5 seconds to realize he's being attacked.

Enough said, none of you losers could get anywhere in a real competitive game like Hon, it is WAY out of your league and you know your place, that place is LoL: the game that doesn't judge you on skill, but on how many clocked hours of nerdshit you've invested into their free trash game that they could never charge money for because nobody would fucking buy it.

lol, alright dude, you must be retarded because all of the things you listed are raged opinions, not facts. I'm saying LoL attempts to be different from dota. The dota creators who helped in the development LoL saw an opportunity to add some features that would make it unique. Again, the summoner spell system, the rune system and the mastery system implemented in LoL mainly affecting gameplay. It seems like HoN just added features that really have nothing to do with gameplay, rather just features dealing with stats. A game BASED on Dota shouldn't BE Dota. I believe that a game that offers something different than Dota's features are much more appealing. I guess if you're looking at cosmetics for a more "serious" looking game, HoN would take it, but I play a game for its gameplay. If I wanna play HoN, I'll play Dota. If I wanna play LoL, I'll play LoL. There's obviously competition because there are people trying to win. Theres obviously some difficulty to the game because theres people that suck at the game, and people that don't.
