It's because of how easy they made getting to 30 is.
I use to have to make alt accounts that would take 2-3 months to get to 30.
First win would only give 150 xp and it would take twice a long to get to 30 exp wise.

Today people can make a 1-30 in 2 weeks no problem. Even worse, first win is now 500 xp. Iirc you only need like 2000 xp to get 29-30.
Make it undesirable to smurf and less people will do it. But they make it more accessible, so obviously more people are going to.

You playing on a new account with someone who is new ruins it for them because your skill will bump up the mmr of her games



The option really doesnt do much





Best work around is to buy a botted account that is leveled in pvp games so the mmr is super low



Smurfing really isnt a huge issue. When I was completely new I lost my first pvp games horribly until I started getting matched with other people at my skill level

The main issue would be a lack of new players if anything
