IIRC normal Elo influences your starting Elo for placements the first time your account does the placements. It is possible that has changed, but for quite some time I believe that was true.

Once you've played your first ranked game normals have no impact on your ranked Elo.

I guess that makes a little sense. Although... even if you play like shit from level 1 to 30, then win the majority of your ranked games you're still going to climb incredibly fast.

The normal elo thing affecting ranked doesn't exist anymore since like 3-4 years ago
