Question unclear. Are you asking about digital or paper? Digital consists of:
MTGO, unfriendly UI but true to the original TCG
MTGA, super user-friendly but no trading, you get what you get and you don't get upset

If you're asking about formats, Commander is the most popular format and super fun to play. Expect longer games especially with multiplayer. Modern or standard 1v1 is usually quicker games 5-15 minutes which I find more enjoyable with a busy life

I'll recommend if want to get into paper magic without depleting your cash reserves, look into proxying. A bit controversial and not tournament legal but if you have a playgroup that accepts proxies, there's some fantastic quality proxies for $0.30/card. PM me if you want more information
