What I would do is craft a cheap deck that has like 4-5 rares in total but still could carry you up to platinum.
The most common example would be mono red goblins, but if you get creative there are some other alternatives.
Using the untapped.gg client you can see statistics up until platinum bracket for free to see what decks are played, and it exports your collection automatically so you can see which of the commonly played decks you could craft based on your current collection and how many wildcards it would take.
Then you use this one budget deck to do the daily quests and save up gold. Don't buy anything, don't craft any other cards, just stockpile all your resources.
When the next set, Dominaria United drops the game, think of a t1 deck you would like to craft. Make a list of which cards you would need, and play sealed or draft a couple times for the sets that contain a bulk of those cards.
Keep in mind that the draft for the newest set is always more expensive, but it is also more fun in my opinion, and you can get more wins if you see through the meta before all the others.
If you have issues with drafting, I recommend using draftsmith (premium feature of untapped), it should carry you all the games for a long time if you are still in bronze.
After that you should have a majority of the cards for that specific deck, except for playsets of rares/mythics from other sets. If you have enough wildcards go ahead and craft them.
If not, try to figure out whether having 2-3 copies instead of 4 is still manageable. In most cases there are some less good alternative options that you could put in your deck until you get more wildcards.
At this point you can grind up to mythic with your t1 deck and you should be settled until the next set. If there are other decks that can reuse the landbase of your t1 deck you could even manage to do a second deck.
Thanks mate, i found a Dimir deck from MTGMalone that i only needed 3 rare and 2 Mythic rares to complete the craft. seems pretty fun to play so far and should be able to hold out for the new set and hoard all other wildcards/packs.
