This weekend I am going to a two-headed giant sealed draft with one my friends and we are both inexperienced in this.

I welcome any advice in general, but I do have a couple questions:

1. This event requires 40 card decks. Can I take my deckbuilding knowledge from standard and scale it down to 40 cards? Eg 24 lands -> 16 lands
2. Am I correct to assume that aggro is way weaker in this format due to the increased amount of cards and life total?
3. Is it important that both players play a totally different archetype in order to have as many answers as possible or is it a valid strategy to go all in on control for example?

The set is double masters 2022 if it makes any difference

1. Yes you can scale down to a 40 card deck for the most part. I would highly suggest 17 lands over 16 unless you end up with a particularly low curve. In limited magic, you generally want to make sure to have 2-3 card advantage spells particularly in 2hg since the games go longer.

2. Yes, overall aggro is less viable in 2hg because two players and higher life total. If you do choose to go aggro, you and your partner should both go all in on this strategy or it won't work, you will get blown out by late game value plays if you cant kill them relatively early. Generally don't try it unless you just open insane aggro cards sometimes you can sneak below your opponents before they can set up.

3. You can split up the "archetypes" to make it so each deck is super tuned. The main thing is just to make sure as a pair you have an overall "plan" similar to if you go aggro, you both gotta do it. Same thing goes for control, one aggro deck and one control dreck usually won't pan out well, just make sure your overall goal and win-con is the same even if both your decks are using a totally different archetype to achieve the goal. Also make sure you have at least some sort of win-con whether that be a bomb you search for, or a ping/drain strat. 2hg games can sometimes get a real gummed up board because even though you are choosing 1 of the two opponents to attack, combat all happens at the same time so you share an attackers and blockers step.

The biggest notes for 2hg is to pay attention to things that say each opponent like for instance crackling doom in this set is buster for 2hg. Also the format is a bit slower in sealed and in 2hg especially so prioritize being able to cast bombs that are 2-1's or 3-1's even if in standard they aren't viable because the mana cost.

Sometimes people have 1 deck be the board presence deck and one deck is all removal, I find this strat backfires often cuz if one side gets mana screwed you essentially lose half of your game plan. Better to balance it out with two decks that can function independently.

Thank you for the advices, we had a lot of fun despite losing 2 games out of 3.
It was a difficult set to work with as most of the bombs were tri-colored and we did not want to play the same colors and we had 2 boosters less than usual in order to keep the price of the event reasonable.
One of the other teams we played got extremely lucky, they had two Kozileks and a Vedalken Orrery.
Me and my friend both agreed that we will try it again when Domanaria drops.

glad to hear you had some fun despite losing 2/3!

Yes definitely try it again! Unfortunately, no matter the set, 2hg can seem unfair at times because with 2 pools together, the chances of one team opening multiple unbeatable bombs is higher. But it's definitely a format more centered around fun and trying ridiculous things compared to a traditional sealed or draft format. I love doing this with a close friend, I think it's important you and your partner are at the same relative skill level and also care the same amount about winning. I've seen too many opposing partners argue and get mad at eachother when it's supposed to be a fun format. The worst is when one person tried to dictate all the decisions, awkward when you sit across from something like this :(.
