i might have been sent a counterfeit old border fetchland from modern horizons 2.

the print is pretty much perfect but the card feels very very glossy almost like plastic, and it feels thicker than normal and doesnt let light through

Could probably look up some techniques but we were lucky enough to have a level 3 judge at our shop (this was 10-15 years ago) and anytime I had card I wasn't sure on he would inspect them for free. Might be something to look into if you have a shop near you that does FNM or other events and you can just ask a judge to take a glance.

I know exactly what you mean though, some of their print runs just seem wildly different and there's so many "high quality" proxies out there from china etc now.

Based on what information you've provided it's almost undeniably fake.

Definitely sounds like fake, but I would definitely bring it to a card shop an have them view it.

Yeah, I was gonna say. Those 3 details are basically obvious giveaways. Some people try to shave off the gloss with a sharpening stone (or something similar), and even artificially damage the sides, etc, but it's still usually easy to tell.

Which version? Foil etched, foil set or collector foil?

Can you post a picture?

i talk to some people at a card shop and it seems like the card is real after all, just printed in america with very different card stock

Yeah some versions of cards are just different but totally authentic especially in the newer sets

I’m assuming it was an etched foil or a textured print if it’s in that set I don’t remember but I really like that set
