 damn seagate lol - saw a way to fix it by buying a dozen diff adapters/plugs then splicing them n etc but looks like to much of a pain in the ass lol and by the time you pay for all the parts you can just get a new hd <_<

Buy one high-quality external and keep extremely good care of it. Back up your important files regularly and just cut your losses if your HDD decides to die again. Personally, Western Digital has never failed me once and their return policies are rather comforting. They compensate for the lost files by paying for the S&H as well as cutting the cost of the next HDD you buy from them in half. Not a lot, but if there is a manufacturers defect with the product and you are not the cause of the mechanical failure, then they are more than willing to help you out. With my new rig I am using a 700GB Samsung for storage and a 300GB Western Digital for access. My 1TB external has yet to fail me and has been rather invaluable.
