Hi everyone.

I light of the recent posts regarding bump requests, I must apologize for bringing attention upon myself and the Guild.

To remedy this issue, I plan to travel to New Zealand in the near future and pummel Cloudifre about the head and shoulders with a small lamb.

Hopefully, this calm and well thought out course of action will alleviate any tensions that have arisin. ( I honestly think his post was in jest, but he does have a certain site-nazi quality about him at times. as many of us do, including me.)

Seriously, I guess I will lighten up a bit. I often get extremely frustrated when I see 20+ early bumps in topics on a regular basis, even by long time members of the site, and members of respected guilds. I wish the Mediators and/or site Administrators would spend a bit more time policing the trade forum(s) with this in mind.

I, for one, NEVER early bump any of my topics in the most blatent form; meaning I do not post my own entries back to back for ANY reason. It's difficult, however, to watch ones topic plummet down the pages in a matter of minutes by flagrant self bumpers, thus eliminating any real chance of selling ones wares without the help of fellow users and friends to bring the thread back to the top every hour or so via a vouch or bump.

My trading time is limited this time of year, and trading is the sole source of forum gold for me, as well as being my favorite component of the game in general. I "horsetrade" for a living, and it brings me pleasure to pursue the "deal".

ISO a stated GUILD policy on this issue. I will adhere to it vigorously.

I hate even being in the trade forum for this reason. It's impossible to get anything done. Even if you do the proper bump once every 4 hours (which seems like an arbitrary and excessive time period) you're only on the top 10 list for 30 seconds. You get 4 or 5 more views and then you wait again. Bumps are the only way to even maintain in this environment. It's ridiculous, but no one is doing anything about it.

I agree with you and Dan's assessment of the situation. As a possible solution, I would propose that offenders of the bump rule be on something along the lines of a 3 strike policy....for example:

1st offense = 1 day no posting privileges
2nd offense = 1 week no posting privileges
3rd offense = 1 month no posting privileges

These "strikes" could be removed if no further violations occur within 30 days of the strike being issued.

This would solve the problem quite quickly if it was enforced and enforced equally.......as in no one is immune...or above the law, so to speak.

Any thoughts?

I would think you'd need more moderators with that sort of banning ability in order to make that work, but it sounds like it could work with more manpower. ;)

** Also, this is why solo offline D2 is amazing.

Yeah it's annoying to see that early bumpers can trade easier than us and they never get any warn unless they do a huuuuuuge number of early bumps/reposts.
Even spam topics are ruining the trade forum because everyone is looking at them and if you post right at the same times you just get no views.
I always thought that if the moderators just started to really warn for spam/early bump and not only for ALOT of repeated violations, all this would stop immediatly.

I agree with Pat when he says noone cares, it's just that noone will even notice or find it anormal to be vouched, it doesn't impact on someone's reputation, regardless to the fact it's against the rules. Howerver, I personally avoid doing it since i joined COT, to respect the rules.

Anytihng would be better than nothing....

My initilal thoughts are that the response from the site would be their lack of resources for policing and enforcement of this type of policy.

I failed to mention that another cause for legitimate trade topics being blasted of the first page is the rampant posting of off-topic nonsense in the trading forum.

"Vids of Melanee getting pwnd"
"Sorc101 is a loser"
"xxxxx is a scammer"
"xxxxx is dodging me"
"Obama is a socialist"
"Niggah plz"
"3fg for funniest pc"

Topics like this appear in the TRADING forums on a regular basis, and run for dozens, if not hundreds of responses. I report them the minute I see them, but they continue to proliferate the forum, thus inhibiting legitimate traders from effectively using the site.

OK Reality check -), COT does not make or influence jsp policy as yet -). COT pursues adherence to jsp rules period, each member must decide for him/herself what that means to them and follow their instincts. I cannot foresee the day when someone would be asked to leave the guild based on requesting vouches or bumps provided it wasn't constant.
