Now working on what could actually cause the acceleration. I would say it would have to do with the position of the galaxies and stars, and as they get further away from eachother their gravities effect eachother less and less. Different accelerations in parallel universes would be caused by different positioning of the galaxies.

When you think about it real hard, I'm sure there is some way you can find infinite possibilites, but when you think about it simply... You can always add another galaxy, star, planet, moon, or even speck of dust. There truly are infinite possibilities.

there is a theory about this
it says diff universes had diff initial mass , and have more or less gravity to slow the initial explosion ( big bang )
universes with more mass,  have more gravity , and will eventually stop expanding , and contract again , and repeat this process, over and over again
there is no proof our universe will not stop expanding , we have only been measuring it for about 80 years or so
there is alot of work being done on trying to find out if our mass is enough to finally stop the expansion ( which is due to the big bang )

Everything else would still be moving the same speed. the rate also changes
even our own universe was once expanding faster than today
the only question we are asking is , is there enough mass in the universe , that gravity will eventually stop ,then reverse the expansion



edwin hubble proposed this about 80 years ago
its  " space " that is expanding
and everything is moving away from everything , at a constant rate , called the hubble constant
