Good morning, boys and girls.
Anybody have a new job for me? I am rapidly reaching my tolerance level in the car business (again).
It's a great gig when the money is there. You don't really notice you're working 60-70 hours a week when you're getting PAID. The recent downturn, (yes, even at a Honda store) and the addition of a third member in my department, which reduces my piece of the commission pie by 33%, has made my job a drag. Recent events also have me feeling the need to spend more time with my Family. My Mother was fine one day, felt light-headed and fell the next, and was
gone 5 weeks later.....kind of puts things in perspective.
What I would love to do is secure a job in the new fabled "green" economy. I really think an ideal posistion for me would revolve around the development of wind generation contracts with landowners. I grew up immersed in extremely rural areas, and learned how to relate to people of that set. 26 years in the auto industry has honed my negotiating skills to a ridiculously keen edge, and I have no fear of working on commission.
Another concept would be representing Canadian hunting/fishing/eco-vacation interests in selling their services. In a down economy, I think an aggressive marketing strategy would pay of, as I know many of these places are struggling. I hav a good friend with property in Ontario (between Dryden and Kenorra) and the lodges in that area are suffering terribly. Having someone aggressivelt representing them
en masse would be, at least IMO effective and exciting.
Maybe one of you has a connection to something along these lines? I would gladly travel half the month for a job like this. Or I would leap at the chance to find a tolerable alrternative to what I do now. Or I would accept a cash payment from any affluent individual and retire tomorrow.
