Well of course. I didn't know anyone there either, so I'm not exactly weeping but I do think they need help. That said, I think even from a selfish US centric point of view it also makes sense [for the government, i could care less about personal donations]. So even ignorate forum rangers should chill out, but I guess thats expecting too much; requires a long view at political effects and how those tie into economy etc.
It really was a mostly lawless region, and helping to rebuild should help stabilize it. More stability benefits them and us. Oh well, expecting logic in obvious forum trolls is asking a bit much.
I think you hit the nail on the head.
No, nobody should have to be responsible for another nations problems. You should be responsible for yourself and your countrymen. However, Haitians are human and they need our help. They don't have the infrastructure or institutions to deal with a disaster of this proportion. They don't even have a regulatory body capable of enforcing building codes that could have easily prevented the construction of buildings that aren't up to code with today's international environmental disaster standards. Haiti even lacks the necessary funds to make sure that buildings are built properly. Haiti hardly qualifies as a legitimate nation.
The issues that people from the "don't support Haiti" groups consistently bring up are strictly political. They aren't looking at it from any other angle. The truth is that this goes far beyond nationally based geopolitical or socioeconomic issues and into the realm of humanitarianism. There should not be politics involved in disaster relief situations. That is heartless and inhumane.

i wanna b boss
Guild hopping is not a quality we look for when hiring Bosses.
If a higher authority wants to accept you, that's fine by me. However, I can't advocate accepting you into Boss considering your history with changing colors like a fucking chameleon.
