I had a similar situation about a year ago, except it didnt involve the cops, just the landlord, it was me who was passed out, and it was a mini-fridge instead of a full size. I had to get in my pool in the middle of winter (i live in california, so it was only like 45 degrees) and fish it out of the pool, then I wrote an apology letter to the landlord. I ened up getting assessed a 150 dollar fine from the landlord. Which was fine with me, considering the alternative was eviction.
