Saving my data in the linux off-cd startup is giving me problems. It always disappears from the external harddrive when i turn it (the computer or the hd) off. And that option that unbinds a partition does not work. How do i savely unmount an external hd in linux (using knoppix 3.1 cd startup as that was the only thing i had)

its getting boring cuz i always get kiled. i take a lot of dmg.
