In fact, several members of our staff enjoyed Hearthstone so much that they wanted to do more than just play it. The same way many things develop on TL, simply with enough people showing an interest, we started fostering a Hearthstone community and developing content. Thanks to our dedicated staff, our Hearthstone forum has become an active place, full of great articles and high level discussion.

With Hearthstone being so different from the established esports games, we felt it that it was appopriate to step outside of TeamLiquid.net and start a new website entirely. We made a similar move a long time ago when poker became very popular on TeamLiquid.net's forums, moving our poker content over to www.liquidpoker.net. TeamLiquid.net is intended for users heavily into esports, and there is a lot we gain from this specialization. It allows us to put an incredible amount of content on one site – forums, news, streams, calendar, wiki, etc – something that would be difficult to do if we covered a large number of games. By giving Hearthstone its own website, it lets TeamLiquid.net keep its focus on covering established esports titles like SC2/Dota2/BW. Hearthstone is better served as well, as we can give it a dedicated site that better fits its unique gameplay and community. That's not to say that Hearthstone can't be an esport on the scale of other games: there is unquestionably a deeply competitive aspect to the game which means the potential is there. By giving Hearthstone its own site, we can can do a better job helping it realize that potential.
