just see hon as a complete new game and start from scratch (and don't think you are good or so, this will only hold you back)

well ive been playing for 2 days, and ive been dominating every game i've played except for some games where only reason I would go negative is due to teammates afk or d/c.
So there is a correlation. I didn't need to start from scratch. I researched the item shop and everything made sense. The mechanics are pretty much the same. I can still CS fine, only new thing i had to learn was deny which isn't hard at all. The fog of war was defintely new but its so easy to implement into my gameplay I actually juke like a star now. People say that HoN and LoL is completely different and that if you are good in LoL, doesn't mean you are good in HoN, but i guess im just an exception

you could play matchmaking now, you should be fine in the 1500 region (maybe even a bit climbing)

so id like to say that it is possible for players from LoL to come into Hon and start off better than majority of population

the majority of players have above 1600 MMR, which you won't reach right now imo
