does matchmaking not pair you up with other users who are also new and learning the game?

HoN's system is very good
in every game you play you'll just be with smurfs who just made new accounts
granted these will be fucktrash 1600 smurfs, but still

you will meet new players and "old" players who are just making new accounts to play vs newbies.
either way, both types will rage and flame, no matter if they are better, same, or worse than you

ofc not everyone does, but you will find at least 1 raging kid in most of your games

It's a mixed bag.

When you start out you get put into the basic queue. However anyone can make a basic account and join that queue. So there are good players making new accounts to stomp all the noobs in the basic queue games.

Not every game is filled with these sharks, though it you'll probably see one in at least 25% of your games. Also there will be people who purposely feed or just leave. So the learning experience is pretty atrocious.

S2 hasn't made bots yet. When they do (2015) i'm sure there will be less good players stomping the basic games.
