I'm a total noob but I always get teamed up with good players so I got carried to the 1800s already even tho I only feed each game ...
that's no fun, srsly

I was 1800 pre compression but after that I got stuck with all 1500-1600 noobs and can't progress

This is me exactly. I've been going mid/carrying and stillc an't climb because my lanes ALWAYS fail. So starting now I've decided to try and support my way back up there. Seeing as how I can't ever get a decent support for more than a single game.
