don't you have to play both games to have a good opinion on the subject

Hon is a way better game than LoL ( Imo). HoN is the new Dota, it is not the new LoL. LoL tried to make a new Dota game, but they failed. I understand the fact that they wanted to make changes, but the game is completely diffrente/ unbanlanced ( it is getting better now but still has been reallly unbanlanced for months). First of all, there are no denys in LoL (wtf lol). Lane control and last hitting is completely different. I have friends playing LoL and they think they are good and they think HoN is worst than LoL. They dont even know whats last hitting / pulling / denying/lane control/ trilane.

LoL is more casual more players too though since it was free to play when HOn wasnt. Hon is a better game. It never was or is the "new Lol".

In my opinion if you play HoN you have most likely played LoL. am i wrong?

Pretty sure HoN came out before LoL (both beta and actual release date).

In Heroes of Newerth you have to have good knowledge of people position to avoid gank, know good ward spots, have a good map and lane control. Good time to push and to back. And that from the 1500 starting bracket. LoL is very noob friendl untill you get a decent elo..you have 30 levels and a long road to do before actually ''getting into the game'' and it gives you the time to learn all heroes ( or champs..) the combos, the items/counter and the ward location with their purpose.

In both game at a certain rating you'll need very good map awareness because Baron/Kong or a missing ward can turn the game around very fast.


I enjoy both games and think people should stop saying one is better, just play the one that you enjoy more.

In my opinion, no one has a right to assert an opinion on HoN vs LoL vs DotA 2 without having played both extensively. I think it's pretty fucking obvious that 99% of the people who started with LoL will stay with LoL, with the same for HoN players. The truth is, unless you're dedicated to giving the other game a shot, you're not going to spend enough time playing it to actually like it or anything.

With that said, I think that LoL is (obviously) more popular, partly due to its cartoonish appearance which appealed to a bunch of young people, and also due to the fact that it was free off the bat (attract people with no money/kids, slowly start attracting more).
Also, as a HoN player I can say that S2 is an incredibly bad company which has a public relations disaster at least once a month. Dunno about Riot, but I'm pretty sure anything is better than S2's comical attempts to handle customer relations.
